What is Guided Surgery?

Guided surgery involves utilizing advanced imaging and scanning technology to accurately navigate treatment areas with precision, ensuring a safe procedure. It is most often used in implant placement type procedures where there is limited bone volume where there is little room for error.

How Does Guided Surgery Work?

We utilize 100% digital workflow for surgical planning. There are numerous types of technologies that we can utilize to guide procedures.  With dental implants, there can be a pre-fabricated “stent” that is used as a guide for placement. Additionally, we can produce an advanced image file that can be referred to as a guide during the duration of the procedure.

The process typically begins with a general exam and advanced imaging scan of the oral cavity and the region of the mouth in question. Our software can then “virtually plan” the entire scope of your surgery. Once the plan is developed, the imaging files and pre-planned surgery are matched to the patient’s individual anatomy, and advanced mapping technology can be used to assist in guiding the placement of the needed implant.

Other complicated procedures such as Sinus Lift Augmentation and Corrective Jaw Surgery can benefit with a Guided Surgery method as well.
