How do oral & maxillofacial surgeons differ from other dental and medical specialists?

Oral and maxillofacial surgery requires years of hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training after graduation from dental school.  Dental school is a required component for this surgical specialty.  A thorough understanding of head and neck anatomy as well as the oral complex is mandatory.  Board certification in this specialty is comprised of a comprehensive written and oral examination covering all aspects of oral and facial surgery.

As a board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Pasqual manages a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth and facial regions. Dr. Pasqual practices a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery for adults and children with expertise ranging from dental implant surgery and wisdom tooth removal to corrective jaw surgery, trauma surgery and facial aesthetics. This also includes techniques designed to rebuild bone structure with minimal surgical intervention and optimal patient comfort. We also diagnose and treat facial pain and facial injuries including facial fractures.
